Images from other sources will be placed here until the usual image reception at this office is resumed. This picture was taken by the Terra polar orbital satellite from a height of about 680 kilometers on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:15 A.M. local time (15:15 UTC). Image courtesy of MODIS Rapid Response Project at NASA/GSFC. After another delay of several months, finally a new image again on this page! Lack of significant weather was the reason that no new images appeared sooner than now (May 2). On this Friday morning, a good amount of high cirrus clouds are observed over our islands and the surrounding region. A few cloud streets consisting of low level cumulus clouds are located from southern Curaçao stretching all the way west to southeastern Aruba. Another shorter but wider line was located from northwestern Bonaire, stretching westward to an area north of Curaçao. The same type of especially cirrus clouds were also located over the Venezuelan Paraguaná peninsula. Denser clouds of several types and at several levels were located farther south and southeast over our neighbor country. No precipitation however was reported from these clouds.
