Configuring Apple Macintosh for CuraNet


(These step-by-step instructions are not valid for Mac OS X)

Step 1
Go to the apple menu (in the upper left corner of the screen) and go to control panels. Select "TCP-IP" from the list.

Step 2
Now you see the TCP-IP control panel. This is what it should look like

  • In the first field (connect via) you select PPP
  • In the second field (configure) you select using PPP
  • In the third field (IP address) there is already selected "<will be supplied by server>"
  • In the fourth field (Subnet Mask) there is already selected "<will be supplied by server>"
  • In the fifth field (Router address) there is already selected "<will be supplied by server>"
  • In the sixth field (Name server addr.) you should type nothing (leave it blank)
  • In the seventh field (Implicit search path, starting domain name) you should type nothing (leave it blank)
  • In the eight field (ending domain name) you should type nothing (leave it blank)
  • In the nineth field (Additional search domains) you should type nothing (leave it blank)

Step 3
You close the TCP-IP control panel by clicking on the little square in the upper left corner. It will ask you if you want to save it. Click yes.

Step 4
Go to the apple menu (in the upper left corner of the screen) and go to control panels. Select "Remote access" from the list.

Step 5
In the remote acces control panel you will have to type the following

  • Registered user should be turned on (meaning that guest is turned off)
  • In the name field you should type your logon name, as supplied by CuraNet
  • In the password field you should type your password.
  • The save password tag should be on
  • In the number field you should type the number you need to call for CuraNet:
    • For the analog line (28k8 - 33k6 modems) call 5700454
    • For the digital line (56k6 modem) call 5700455

Step 6
You close the remote access control panel by clicking on the little square in the upper left corner. It will ask you if you want to save it. Click yes.

Last step
Now all that is left is connecting to the internet. All your settings are now configured correctly to easily connect to the internet.
There are several ways of connecting to the internet. One way is by going to the apple menu (in the upper left corner), select remote access status. In the panel that comes up, click on connect.

Once you are done, click disconnect on the same panel.
