Internet settings for Netscape 4
To use the Internet features that CuraNet provides, you have to configure some settings in netscape 4.X.

1. E-mail and Usenet news.
When you open Netscape for the first time, it will create a new profile for you. This step-by-step-document describes what to enter at the various screens.
These settings can also be found under "Edit -> Preferences -> Mail and Newsgroups" in the Netscape program.

  • .a. Fill in your full name and e-mail address (at "Identity" in the "Preferences" menu).
  • .b. In the next window, use the program defaults for your profile name and location.
  • .c. The outgoing mail server (SMTP server) is: mailhub.cura.net (at "Mail Servers" in the "Preferences" menu)
  • .d. When the program asks you for your username, please do not enter "username@cura.net". Only the username is enough!
  • The incoming mail server is: popmail.cura.net (at "Mail Servers" in the "Preferences" menu)
  • Mail server type is: POP3
  • .e. The news server (NNTP) is: news.cura.net. It's port number is: 119 (at "Newsgroup Servers" in the "Preferences" menu)
  • .f. Hit the "Finish" button to finalize your profile settings. (or the OK butons if you are in the "Preferences")

2. Homepage location

  • .a. In the Netscape program, go to "Edit" -> "Preferences". The preferences window of Netscape opens.
  • .b. In "Category" "Navigator" (on the left side of the screen) you see: "Homepage, Location" (on the right side of the screen). Fill in: http://www.cura.net
