Configuring Windows 3.11 for CuraNet
Unfortunately, Windows 3.11 doesn't have it's own internet connection
software. You need Chameleon Sampler
to establish the connection. This software can be obtained at
the office of CuraNet.
- First you have to install Chameleon Sampler on your computer.
Put the disk in the corresponding drive and from the "Program
Manager" windows choose: "File" -> "Run".
Type a:\setup in the dialog
box.
- Another dialog box asks if you want to install the program
in the default directory c:\netmanag,
you can choose another directory if you wish and after that
the files will be installed in your hard drive.
- Once the installation process has completed, open the "Chamelion
Sampler" windows and double-click the "Custom"
icon.
* Open the "Interface" menu and select "ADD.."
Type CuraNet as "Name"
and select PPP as your type.
Hit the "OK" button.
- Open the "Setup" menu and select "IP Adress".
Here you see: "0.0.0.0". Make that 1.1.1.1
and hit the "OK" button.
- Open the "Setup" menu again and select "Host
name". Type your username.
Hit the "OK" button.
- Open the "Setup" menu again and select "Domain
Name". Type cura.net
Hit the "OK" button.
- Open the "Setup" menu again and select "Port".
Select your modem's highest baud rate; data bits=8; Stop Bits=1;
no parity; Hardware Flow controls. Make sure that in the "Connector"
section you have the right serail (comm) port selected. Hit
the "OK" button.
- Open the "Setup" menu again and select "Dial".
Type our phone number: 5700454.
(If you are dailing through a PBX system you might have to add
a 9, or a 0,
before the telephone number). Check the "Signal when connected",
leave the rest of the option as they are. Hit the "OK"
button.
- Open the "Setup" menu for the last time and select
"Login". Type your username
(in lowercase letters) and type your password.
Hit the "OK" button.
- Now save this configuration: open de "File" menu,
select "Save as" and type curanet.cfg
Hit the "OK" button.
- You must close the Custom application and restart your computer.
Once your computer has been restarted you can open the "Chamelion
Sampler" windows and double-click the "Custom"
icon. In here, choose "Connect" and your computer will
connect to the internet via CuraNet.
