| Configuring
Windows 95 for CuraNet
To make a connection with the Internet, you have to configure
some settings in Windows 95/98. This step-by-step-document describes
how to do this.
1. Check for Dial Up Network.
.a. Go to "My Computer"
and check if there is a "Dial Up" networking icon present.
· If there is a dial-up networking present, go to item
number 2f.
· If the dial-up networking icon is not present, proceed
with item number2.
2. Setting up a dial-up network.
.a. Go to "Control Panel"
and click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
.b. In here, click on "Windows
Setup".
.c. Select the "Communication"
component and click on "Details".
.d. Select the "Dial-Up
Network" component by putting a V in the check box.
.e. Close off by pressing
the "OK" button (it is possible that you need the windows98
CD or disks at this point).
.f. Go to "Control Panel"
and click on the "Network" icon.
.g. Check if the following
components are installed:
· "Dial up adapter" ;
· "TCP/IP"
.h. If you miss any one of
these, click on the "Add" button, and then:
· adapter:
· TCP/IP: Close off with "OK" - if you are asked
to "specify a name for your computer", just give it
your family name; for workgroup name you can fill in CuraNet.
Close off with "OK".
.3. Selecting a dialer
.a. Go to my computer
.b. Click on dial-up networking
item group
.c. Click on icon Make New
Connection
.d. Type "CuraNet Digital"
as name for the computer you are dialing - click on next
.e. Area code is 9; telephone
number 5700455, country code Netherlands Antilles
.f. Click on Finish
.g. Select CuraNet from the
dial-up networking list, go to "file" and click on "properties"
.h. Remove the check sign
in the area code box
.i. Click on Server Types
, and check the following two boxes: "Enable software compression"
and "TCP/IP". All other boxes must be unchecked.
.j. Hit the OK button to close
the Properties window.
.k. Go to step .3.a. To make
another connection for telephone number 5700454 (our analog number,
so you can call it: "CuraNet Analog")
.l. Drag both CuraNet icons
out of the dial-up networking box to create a shortcut.
