TROPICAL CYCLONE NAMES
The table below contains the names to be used during 2009 - 2014 to identify the named tropical cyclones of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the North Atlantic Ocean. This list of names will be rotated forward beyond 2014 so that the 2009 names will be used again in 2015. However, if a tropical cyclone acquires special notoriety because of its strength, deaths, damage or other special reasons, its name may be withdrawn at the request of any Member and the agreement at the session of the so-called RA IV Hurricane Committee1. In such a case, the RA IV Hurricane Committee will select a replacement for the withdrawn name. Whenever more storms develop in a given year than the number of names in the relevant list, the Greek alphabet (Alpha, Beta, etc.) will be used to name the subsequent systems.
